Primary responsibilities include in-depth pre-funding and post-funding quality assurance audit on each loan file. The position requires extensive experience in underwriting and guideline knowledge of both conventional and government loans. Additionaly, loan fraud detection is required. The Underwriter is expected to make loan level risk analysis and recognize issues that could cause loans to be repurchased or be in violation of any lending laws. Ability to underwrite higher-complexity loan files including down payment and multi-layered loans. Identify where in the chain of application, underwriting, closing or funding anyerrors may or are occurring and propose improvements or changes to eliminate future occurrences. Works closely with the VP, Lending Services.
Job Responsibilities
• Perform in-depth reviews and analysis of mortgage loans as assigned by the VP of Lending Services.
• Work on pre-funding audits of loans while maintaining productivity levels of post-funding audits.
• Perform risk analysis with identification of loan level defects and assures uniformity and proficiency.
• Audit results and incorporate risk ratings, standardized defect categories along with determination if the findings are related to underwriting, compliance or quality control.
• Early detection and prevention of fraud, familiarity with red flags.
• Ensure all loans are underwritten in accordance with all required Investor and agency guidelines such as, FNMA, FHLMC, HUD, VA, USDA and Jumbo.
• Maintain knowledge of underwriting guidelines, AUS (DU, LP and Manual) requirements.
• Assist the Compliance team with interpreting Regulations and statutes, implementing best practices, and creating reports for senior management.
• QC completed within expected and approved timeframes.
• Continuous education in compliance via webinars and other training.
Qualifications
• Ability to review audit documentation, perform analysis, validate and document potential risk to determine course of appropriate corrective action and/or make recommendations of such action.
• Possess strong attention to detail, analytical and organization skills.
• Previous underwriting experience, and/or quality control review/audit experience of mortgage loans.
• Ability to analyze risk as it relates to investment quality loans, critical thinking with short yet comprehensive write ups.
• Working knowledge of investor guidelines such as FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, USDA, Jumbo and Reverse.
• Strong ability to detect possible misrepresentation and/or fraud.
• Experience reading and interpreting title reports, AVM, credit reports, income documentation and settlement statements.
• Extensive knowledge of DU, LP and manually underwritten loans.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to rate and categorize risk ratings in a clear and concise manner.
• Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with third parties and team members.
• Ability to work in stressful, and at times high-pressure situations.
• Able to prioritize and meet deadlines

The remote Senior Processor reports directly to the HCA VP of Lending Services. Working with loan officers, borrowers, and third party providers to obtain documentation and submit a thorough, accurate, and complete loan package to Underwriting. Pro-actively maintains control of the loan file, monitors dates for approval, appraisals, purchase deadlines and closing, and ensures that all deadlines are met in a timely and efficient manner. Recognizes and resolves challenges early in the process, and provides excellent customer service to all parties involved. The Senior Processor has the ability to handle higher-complexity loan files including loans with down payment multi-layered applications than the Processor role.
Job Responsibilities
• Reviews higher-complexity residential loan application files to verify that application data is complete and meets industry standards, including type and amount of mortgage, borrower assets, liabilities, and length of employment; Prepares necessary documents and submits mortgage loan application files for underwriting approval; Reviews, gathers and submits conditions to Underwriting to clear loan for approval
• Work closely with our partner organization Loan Officers to ensure a timely and stress-free experience for the homebuyer(s) throughout the entire mortgage process; Communicates with borrower(s) to obtain related conditions
• Calls specified companies/vendors to obtain property abstract, survey, and appraisal; FHA case numbers and tax transcripts, as appropriate; Follows up on all outstanding orders to third parties and borrowers within established HCA deadlines; Calls or writes credit bureau, employer for verification of employment, (VOE) and any other third party necessary to verify the accuracy of information
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, and issue the Initial Disclosures, CD, and other required compliance documents. Complete all required annual compliance training and continuing education. Maintain knowledge of and adhere to HCA’s internal compliance policies and procedures. Take responsibility to keep up to date with changing regulations and policies.
